02 · THE IDEA

Every campaign is the same: one painted figure for your character, and a pile of dice, coins and crumpled paper standing in for the goblins, the bandits, the boss. The table never quite sees what you're fighting.

Totem Forge is one small device that becomes any of them. Choose a picture in the app, transfer it through the base, and the character appears on totem screen that stays on for the whole game, then becomes someone else next session.

Built by a player, for players

Totem Forge started at our own game table, born from the wish to swap a hero's face mid-session without repainting anything. So we built the thing we wished existed. Every part of Totem Forge is made in-house, from the electronics and the companion app to the hand-painted, 3D-printed bodies and compact storage case. Designed by players who actually sit down and roll the dice.

Does it need charging?
Not really. The screen itself needs no battery: e-ink holds the image physically, so the portrait stays forever without power. A small battery powers only the LED light effects.
Does the screen really stay on all the time?
Yes. That's the magic of e-ink: the image is physically held by the display, so it's always visible. No backlight, no sleep mode, no power used.
Which games does it work with?
Any tabletop that uses tokens or miniatures. The 1-inch square footprint matches D&D and Pathfinder grids and blends with standard minis, so you can mix collections freely.
Where does the art come from?
Anywhere you like: import commissioned art or your own drawings, share any image straight to the app, or use our ready-made art packs tuned for e-ink.
Do I need the app to play?
Only to change what's on the screen: dock the totem on its base and connect to your phone via USB. During play the totem is fully standalone, and the portrait stays on without a phone nearby.
How is it shipped?
